ExpressVPN Review-VPN proxy app

ExpressVPN Review-VPN proxy app

ExpressVPN is a VPN proxy app that lets you change locations as much as you want. It hides your connection so no one can follow what you are doing online. It promises high speed, ultra security and full anonymity. Developed by the company of the same name, let’s take a look at why they are regarded as the “#1 Trusted Leader in VPN”.

ExpressVPN Features

As you launch the app you are quickly introduced to what the app offers. With ExpressVPN, everything you do online is encrypted, which prevents any third party from tracking what you are doing. You can choose from 130+ VPN locations and you can browse any website smoothly. This app does not log any of your activity so you don’t have to worry about anything. You can choose to log in if you have already bought ExpressVPN on your computer, or you can start a free trial that lasts 7 days.

ExpressVPN Guide

To start a free trial you will have to enter your email address. After it has finished activating you can configure your VPN. The app promises that it will not monitor your network traffic. You can however share anonymized analytics about your VPN connections. This helps the developers make the app as good as it can be. It’s completely optional though, you don’t have to allow this.

After you have done that, you can see the main screen of the app. Here you can see a button which you can tap on to secure your connection and turn on the VPN. Below it you can see the location you are going to use, which the app refers to as a “Smart Location”.Next to it is a button that allows you to choose the location you’d like.

Tap on the button to get a list of recommended locations, as well as all available ones. You can tap on the star next to each country on the right side of the screen to add them to your favorites.

On the top left corner of the main screen is a 3-line menu icon. Tap on it to see the settings, your account, frequently asked questions and the ability to set up the app on other devices. You can also send an email to the developers if you have any questions that haven’t been answered. Customer support works 24/7 and the average response time is only a few hours. That’s great and really shows that the developers care about their users.

In the Settings menu you can take a look at VPN Settings, diagnostic data, the app’s current version as well as the terms & conditions. You can change the VPN protocol to Automatic, UDP or TCP. Automatic is the recommended option but you can try out UDP and TCP as well. UDP gives you the best mix of speed and security, while TCP is more of a backup plan if UDP for some reasons does not work.

I recommend leaving it to Automatic as then the app will automatically select the best protocol for your location and network. If you are having connection problems or if your connection is really slow, then feel free to try out the protocols yourself.

VPN Location

ExpressVPN Location

When it comes to VPN location, it’s best to use the recommended Smart Location for the best experience. If however that doesn’t work well for you, try other VPN locations and hope for the best. It’s best to choose the VPN location that is closest to you. You can also adjust the app so that it reconnects to the last connected location on startup as well. It’s off by default but it’s not a bad idea to turn it on.

Diagnostic Data

Diagnostic Data is the anonymous information that you share to ExpressVPN. This anonymous information includes things such as VPN connection success rates. You can switch that on if you want to help the developers improve the app.

Plans & Pricing

ExpressVPN Price plan

As I mentioned earlier, this free trial lasts 7 days, which should be enough time for you to use it and decide whether you’d like to buy it. If you do choose to buy it, head over to “My Account” in the menu and tap on the green button labeled as “Plans and Pricing”. There are 3 plans that you can choose from. The 1st one requires you to pay $8.32/month every 12 months. This is the plan that most users buy as you save $55.45 in the long run. The 2nd one costs $9.99/month for 6 months and the 3rd one is $12.95/month for 1 month. What’s great about any of these plans is that there is a 30 day money back guarantee. It’s great that you can get your money back if you happen to change your mind or find that it’s not working out as it used to.

Each of these plans includes unlimited bandwidth, unblocked websites, dedicated support and apps for all other platforms at no extra cost. This means that if you buy it for Android you can still continue to use it on Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Apple TV, Kindle Fire and even on PlayStation and Xbox consoles without any additional fees.
